Bydand: Household Contacts — Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 22, 2026

In short: your information stays on your device. Bydand does not have a server, does not collect your data, and does not share your data with anyone, because there is nowhere for that data to go except the phone you typed it into. The only times the app reaches outside your phone are a few things you choose to tap, listed under “Links, calls, texts, and text scanning” below.

What information the app handles

Bydand is a personal organizer for household contacts and essentials. Depending on how you choose to use it, the app may store information you enter yourself, such as:

Where this information is stored

All information you enter is stored locally on your device only, using your device's own local storage. Bydand does not operate a server or cloud database, and the information you enter is not transmitted by the app, apart from the few features you choose to tap that are described below. The app is also set to opt out of Android's automatic app backup, so its contents are not copied to a cloud backup by the app.

Camera and photos

If you choose to attach a photo, the app opens your phone's own camera or photo picker so you can take or select that photo. It is used only for that purpose. Photos are saved to your device's local storage the same way as any other information in the app. They are never uploaded or transmitted by the app.

Location

Bydand does not request, collect, or use your device's location. The app does not declare any location permission.

Links, calls, texts, and text scanning

A few features reach outside the app, and only when you tap them:

Outside these tap-initiated features, nothing you enter or store in the app is transmitted anywhere.

App Lock and biometrics

If you turn on the optional App Lock, including fingerprint or face unlock, the check is performed by your device's own security system. Bydand never receives or stores your fingerprint or face data.

Backups and sharing

Bydand includes an Export feature that lets you save a backup file of your information, which you can optionally protect with a passcode. You can also save your Household Contact Card as a picture, or print it. These files are created and stored entirely under your control, for example saved to your device or shared through your phone's own Share menu (such as email or text message) if you choose to send one to a family member. Bydand itself does not send these files anywhere; how and whether you share them is entirely up to you.

Changes from earlier versions

Earlier versions of Bydand (before version 1.4.0) included emergency, medical, and location features. Those features have been removed. When you update, the app deletes any previously saved Medical ID information from your device. If you made an Export backup with an earlier version, any medical information inside that file is ignored when you import it into the current version.

No ads, no analytics, no tracking

Bydand does not display advertising, does not use third-party analytics or tracking tools, and does not sell or share information with advertisers or data brokers, because it does not collect information in the first place.

Third parties

Bydand does not integrate with third-party services that would receive your information, other than the tap-initiated features listed above. Any sharing that happens (for example, sending an exported backup file by email) is initiated by you, using your device's own apps, and is governed by that app's own privacy practices rather than Bydand's.

Deleting your information

Because your information is stored only on your device, you can delete it at any time by removing entries inside the app, clearing the app's storage in your phone's settings, or uninstalling the app. The developer holds no copy and cannot delete anything on your behalf.

Children's privacy

Bydand is intended for use by adults managing household information for their family. It is not directed at children, and the app does not knowingly collect information from children, since all information is entered locally by the person using the device.

Not an emergency service

Bydand is a personal organizer. It is not an emergency service and does not contact emergency services. In an emergency, use your phone's dialer to call 911 or your local emergency number.

Data loss and your responsibility

Because your information is stored only on your device and nowhere else, you are responsible for backing up your own data using the app's Export feature. If your device is lost, damaged, has its storage cleared, or the app is uninstalled without an export having been made, your information cannot be recovered. The developer has no copy of it and no way to restore it.

Changes to this policy

If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same page with a revised “Last updated” date.
